Your Humble Tribes' Representative
BULA and hello there. I'm Simione Daveta aka TuKubu, your humble tribes' guide through these pages, and have set up this site to help the various members get a direct foot-hold onto the world market for their produce. While we have national corporations tasked with this very same responsibility, their online performance indicated they just weren't being seen enough. This challenged the intellect in me to see if more could be done. After all, the tribes in these developing nations could do with all the help they can to market their wonderful products. Thankfully to the available global knowledge this member of our tribes learned the art of the web and you've found the product of that transfer of skills and knowledge. Fiji-taro-and-kava.com after only three months online ranked in the top 0.4 of 1% of all sites globally, and continues to improve rankings daily as the buzz spreads. You have read our unique structure and benefits arrangement with tribe members on our landing page. No doubt you will agree with the unique valuable proposition that guides us. Profits from this sites' trade are shared with each contributing tribe. For what good is it if one should gain the whole world yet lose his soul, eh? Love is the key, I've always believed. You see, while I am happily married with five beautiful children, I've also had a passion for helping the weaker members of society, even if that meant losing money as contribution for a budding tribe member to obtain a loan from the local development bank back in the early 90's. Or, when the then Opposition Leader called for the closure of the Native Lands Trust Board - a statutory government body administering Fiji's native lands - for not fulfilling its obligation to furnish audited financials to government, I left a well paying job with Shell Pacific Islands Limited as Regional Accounting Manager responsible for Tonga, Western Samoa, American Samoa and the Cook Islands, and joined them as a humble accountant to complete the same. Upon completion of the 1989 audited financials six months after commencing in 1994, I was promoted to Manager Finance - a post I held until 1998 when having completed the 1997 financials and my agenda left to 'go bush' and live off the land. But alas, it wasn't for long as in 2001 after being approached by the biggest province in Fiji, joined their holding company and aided their tribe grow, secured with interest savings when I refinanced their debt away from the aforementioned development bank. These savings were over $400k annually, and as the terms were for twenty years, Ba Province still earns these savings today - long after I'd left in 2006 when sensing management were building their own castles. Time to go bush once again; I thought, but then, it still was not meant to be just yet... In 2007 upon the request of the Fijian Indigenous Fishing Boat owners and Captains Association (FIFOCA) drew up business plans for these aging seafarers to earn equity with their own fishing businesses. You see the shrewed businessmen that capitalized off their intricate knowledge of the seas and tuna industry never offered them any chance at owning any equity, always content at milking them of the millions they were hauling in. And the development bank responsible for developing these very islands, seemed somehow in partnership with the big wigs and former governments - all conspiring to milk the nation and our peoples of our fair share - by requiring exorbitant deposits and collateral. Thankfully we had leaders also tuned in to the huge debacle unfolding before our very eyes and had rightfully usurped government to set things right. So in October 2007 after encountering yet again the unreasonable demands of our development bank for security to cover loans sought by potential coconut oil producing island clients, I knew I had to go for the jugular. Loan security I reasoned should also be viewed in the form of the ownership of lands and resources these islanders had and will bequeath their descendants in perpetuity; not merely in the form of money or private holdings with titles. The development bank it appeared wasn't too keen on helping the masses develop themselves - shirking the responsibilities of leadership. With a favorable ear now in government, I presented this case to the Council of Ministers and was instrumental in prompting the retrenchment of the entire Board of Directors and management of the above development bank when they refused the directive for a 60:40 split in loans portfolio between resource and non-resource sectors. Since February 2008 the Fiji Development Bank now offers landowners a minimum of $50,000 in loans for dairy, meat and coconut oil production, with zero deposit required, now satisfied with the security of the applicant being a valid resource owner. 2009 brought the pleas of farmers for help in finding markets and the birth of this site. It is far from finished, as I still have to traverse the rest of the country meeting villagers and compiling our resource base. Additional pages need to be built and obstacles still need to be maneuvered successfully. I ask that you be patient as I attempt to secure financial resources and ease the bumps on our roads. However we are receiving orders for taro and kava, so that part is functioning. Inquire through our 'Contact Us' page. Or... If you feel for us and are compelled to help, we'd welcome hearing from you via our 'Contact Us' page as I need to white list you before you can email me direct on our servers. Something to do with spam and virus protection... Thank you once again for your time and patience and the privilege to serve you. Read a sample tribes member here. Read about the Kava Bans and the SCAM being perpetrated by our so-called friends here. Go to Top of Page.
